The Alison Builders Story Alison Builders is a family run business which has been in existence since 1985. Rapidly expanding throughout the eighties and nineties from an initial labour base of 3, to the beginning of the noughties, when the company had 12 regular full time workers. The growth continued unaffected by the collapse of the industry in 2008 mainly due to the attention to detail to give a top class end product reasonably priced, doing this by streamlining management, with everyone organised and working together to fulfil the Alison Guarantee. We currently have over 20 full time workers including bricklayers, electricians, plumbers, plasterers, roofers, joiners, damp-proofers, dry stone wallers, as well as a team of fully experienced semi-skilled labourers to back up all of our tradesmen. We can also offer you a service that includes professional assistance with the design of your project with drawings ready for planning and building control approval with a choice of brick and natural stone build with either UPVC, hardwood or softwood windows. Of course being local builders we are ideally placed for any emergency insurance work with no job being too small as we are well aware that for most of us our home is our most precious and important possession, we will respect that and treat it accordingly. The Company boasts that it has a local customer base of over 10000 satisfied customers and we often work for up to 3 generations in the same family, and situated in Oakerthorpe we are ideally placed to carry out work up to and including Derby, Mansfield, Chesterfield and Nottingham. In the past we have also worked for Derbyshire County Council, Derbyshire Police and the Co - Op. So why not try us out, we give free quotes, design and building advice to all. Again, great work from Alison Builders. Dave and Callum did an excellent job fitting a dry verge system to our cottage and also replaced an old fence post with a sturdy replacement. They carried out their work in a professional way and were also friendly and helpful which is always welcome. They cleared everything away and left the place really tidy before leaving. I'll definitely be using Allison Builders again.
Vic, Jim and Dave did a wonderful job. Turned up in time each day, polite and cheery. Tidied up after themselves. Would have no hesitation in recommending them. Had a single story rear extension, completed in timescale and within budget.
Alison Builders have recently completed a complete refurb of my Mum's property prior to her moving in. The ceilings and some of the walls have been re-plastered. The walls, coving, doors, skirting boards and rads have all been painted. All new light fittings have been installed, as well as extra power points. New carpets and flooring, new exterior windows and doors, including the garage. The old bathroom has been replaced with a brand new shower room, adapted for my Mum's needs. All of Vic's team are courteous and hard working. Vic who oversaw this project kept everything on track and nothing is too much trouble for him. My Mum is very happy and comfortable in her new home. Alison Builders have done a fantastic job sorting our roofing problems out, I cannot recommend them enough, thoroughly professional, the owner was knowledgeable and very down to earth. The price was very competitive and the quality was the best.

*Customer feedback* They took my money £1000 and never came back to put a proper finish on the plastering - it is a mess. They used the same wood, so no new wood provided. He used tape to justify tanking, never fixed the kitchen draw as promised or the kitchen door. It took less than 2 days in total. Not fit for purpose, not of reasonable value, not completed in reasonable time, and a man with false promises. I was stupid enough to pay before they finished the work. *Traders Reply* I have always served my clients striving to give the best possible end result and I suppose that is why I am still in the business after so many years. As regards the ugly duckling revue I suppose it is inevitably that because of the length of time I have been in business a client is not 100% satisfied or in this case albeit misguidedly, seemingly very unsatisfied,so it should be noted that if any rectification is required after a job it would be carried out promptly further I will say that as you see this particular client is saying the job was left unfinished when final payment was made the fact is it WAS completed with an arrangement at the time to start another phase at a later date, you should note my company never ask for payment beforehand unless a stage payment is agreed usually if the job is over £10,000 which this was not. This particular client did ring me some weeks ago to ask me to do some more work some 2 years after the completion of the first job I told her I did not want to do any more work for her with that she put the phone down, if she had given me chance to explain why I was not prepared to work for her again I was ready to explain in the politest way possible the following explanation, Due to my experience on the previous job it was impossible to deal with her in any constructive way as regarding building work. Therefore leaving me with no choice but to decline her invitation to carry out any further building work.
Phoned Alison Builders after our chimney pot blew off in the recent storms. They came round to quote for the repairs, but offered to do the work there and then as the top of the chimney had also been loosened and roof tiles cracked. Excellent service and a fair price too.
Excellent service. Came each time when they said they would, all the workers we came into contact with were very courteous, tidied up after themselves. Excellent job, very pleased with the result. Would highly recommend using them. Best workman we have ever used.
Vic and his team recently completed works on renovating our garage. The teams arriving each day were prompt and efficient, completing the waterproofing, insulating, plastering and the door/window fitting to a very high standard. They were also very helpful in discussing and suggesting additions to the original plans. They did what they said they were going to do when they said they were going to do it and the price we paid was in line with the quote we were given. After completion we requested some additional work which Vic's team were able to help us with by coming out at the weekend to complete. Throughout the process we found Vic to be extremely knowledgeable and couldn't be happier with his teams' work. Would definitely recommend Alison Builders.
Great service - felt very confident in the craftsmanship of all the staff.
The work was to repair / replace a leaking valley gutter on my conservatory roof, and to repair a leak in a different area of my roof. I had to wait a while before the work could be done, due to other jobs ahead of mine. However, when I got a date, the work was completed as planned and I am happy with the result. Vic was helpful and made sure the job was done before the weather has worsened for the winter. The builders arrived on the day and time agreed. They worked solidly throughout the day and completed the job as planned. They took good care on the conservatory roof, even though it was a tight space. This has been a tricky problem to fix and I am happy with the work that they did. I am happy to recommend Alison Builders.
A very, friendly and competent team who worked hard, efficiently, unobtrusively and tidily with little mess. They finished on time and were amenable about new ideas and when things didn't quite go to plan. I'm very pleased with the end result.

I have used Alison Building Co. before and thus had no hesitation in employing them again when I needed some work done. They were their usual efficient selves and completed the work to their usual high standard. Helpful, courteous and prompt. I shall be using them again.
We were very pleased with the work done. We had a significant amount of re-pointing work done on our old property including re-laying of several rows of bricks on a high chimney stack and re- setting of the chimney pots. We felt that Vic Fell gave us sound advice at the quoting stage and the work was carried out efficiently and to a very good standard. The workmen were considerate and hard working.
Alison Builders did a great job. Although the job itself was quite small the access to the work was difficult. Alison sorted everything out so that the work could be done in a day. I would certainly use them again for future building work.

As we were unable to obtain a personal recommendation for the specialist jobs we required for our period property we were grateful for the excellent reviews for Alison Builders on this site. Our initial contact was owner Vic who visited us promptly and on two occasions to discuss our needs and offer advice and suggestions. Having seen Eddie and Jim positively mentioned in several reviews we were delighted when they came to introduce themselves and offer further ideas prior to starting our work. This consisted of roofing, soffits, fascias, guttering pointing and reconfiguration of pipework and took over two weeks. Each day they arrived on time, were always cheerful and delivered a very high standard of work in all weather conditions. No challenge was too great for this excellent team who have great problem solving skills. We were updated re progress and shown photos of inaccessible areas to us. The site was left tidy each night and fully cleared on completion of the job. During and since the works we have received many compliments. Value for money reflecting high quality workmanship by experienced tradesmen. Highly recommended.

We were very impressed by Alison Builders. We used them for some roof work. Vic's understanding of the work gave us confidence; he gave us realistic options and was always available to answer questions. Jim and Eddie worked tirelessly and cheerfully high on a roof ridge in really horrible weather conditions. Every time they went up on the roof, they took photos to show us what they were doing. They were professional and extremely competent. Their repair of our stone chimney stack was done to a high standard and I am sure it is now good for another 100 years or so! The price charged was reasonable. I have no hesitation in recommending Alison Builders.
I was very happy with the work done by Alison Builders, the work was completed quickly and care was taken to leave my property clean and tidy afterwards. In addition to this Vic was very helpful in dealing with the building control inspection of the work once it was completed which I appreciated as I had no personal experience of dealing with these issues. I would be very happy to use this company again in the future and recommend them to anyone looking for a professional and trustworthy builder.
Alison Builders undertook several projects on our property, an old stone cottage. On reporting an internal leak to Vic Fell, who was very understanding and helpful, he sent members of his team to sort the problem out which they did really quickly and effectively. Since then the team have installed new fascia and guttering plus carrying out much needed pointing on the property. The finished result is more than I could have hoped for and has made a real difference to the look of the cottage. My thanks go to all of the team involved and particularly Eddie and Jim who carried out most of the work. All of the team are very professional and friendly, taking great pride in their work, paying attention to every detail. Once the work was complete everything was put back in place and left spick and span. I'd use them again without hesitation and if I could evaluate their quality of work it would be with a Gold/5star rating.
Alison Builders installed my wet room downstairs. Vic Fell surveyed the available space, listened to my ideas and came up with practical solutions to meet my requirements. The work was carried out efficiently and completed on time, with great attention to detail, creating a room with the "wow factor". Alison Builders have undertaken several jobs for me previously and I didn't hesitate to contact them when I wanted a new kitchen. As always, the workmen attend when they say they are going to and do the tasks that they are asked to do. The workmen are kind and always tidy up after themselves. We had a wall removed, a skylight, french doors and a new kitchen. Work took 6 weeks and once Eddie and Jim were here they came every week day, on time too! They were tidy, trustworthy and most of all cheerful especially on days when it got hard with no sink, facilities etc. Vic was contactable and approachable throughout and we highly recommend them and thank them for the excellent work. I really love the new kitchen and the light and space created is just what we wanted.
