Since 2004 Cressbrook (Previously known as 'Julian Wright's Maintenance & Improvements') have undertaken home improvements in & around the Hope Valley & Derbyshire Dales including complete bathroom & kitchen refurbishments, garden offices, supplying & fitting bespoke fitted furniture, as well as joinery & significant structural alterations. Based in the 'Plague village' of Eyam 'Cressbrook' is a small local company specialising in listening to customers needs & providing a friendly & competent home refurbishment service. We can offer you advice, design/plans, structural calculations, removal of old & total refurbishment. Much of our work is undertaken in older houses found in & around the Peak District often being of random stone construction & generations of bodging!!. We endeavour to undertake a thorough approach & make sure we sort out age old issues like damp, rotten joists, inferior wiring & plumbing that have perhaps previously been avoided or simply covered up & left. We prefer to liaise with our clients throughout to ensure they are kept informed & fully included in the decision making process. Many thanks to Julian and the team for installing my new kitchen with added wall and floor insulation, have already noticed a difference to the warmth of the room! Cressbrook are very busy with a long wait time but are worth waiting for and do a very good job.
Creation of a new downstairs shower room from scratch. Advice, project management including sourcing and use of specialist teams, sourcing hardware and other items, either directly or guidance for suppliers for us to visit, plus excellent communication led to an extremely satisfactory experience.
We are very satisfied with the work done by Cressbrook. The work included replacing a bath with a walk in shower, replacement of toilet and bathroom vanity unit. Julian took a lot of care discussing our requirements and advising us prior to starting the work and was very careful choosing the parts and materials. Once the work started Julian and his assistant Sam worked very efficiently always being prompt and working long days, minimising any inconvenience to us. The finished product is of excellent quality and exactly what we specified. Throughout the project Julian sent us detailed lists of costs and paying in instalments as the work proceeded avoided any nasty surprises. Overall the cost was very fair and as expected. Overall we would highly recommend Cressbrook for similar projects
Julian has been very helpful by giving advice over the phone and by email on a problem with my underfloor heating manifold which prevented my kitchen from warming up during the recent spell of cold weather. My regular gas engineer was too busy to deal with it, so I'm very grateful for Julian's prompt response.
We were delighted with the work done by Cressbrook, it looks amazing and is working beautifully. The major work included damp-proofing; the installation of new kitchen, hallway and laundry cabinets; a new boiler; new radiators; new flooring and bespoke bookshelves and cabinets in the living room. This also included requirements for new plumbing, electrics and plastering. Cressbrook were excellent throughout. Julian and his team were professional, patient and paid great attention to detail. Julian was brilliant at suggesting creative solutions to issues which always arise with an older property and to discussing alternatives to save time and money. He also came with a trusted range of sub-contractors and made useful suggestions for alternative, often better value suppliers. It was a pleasure to work with Julian and his team, they were very considerate and friendly, particularly important when you are living in the property while the work is being done. The price for the work was very fair. Although the price increased so did the scope of the work and Julian was always very clear about additional costs. Paying in instalments enabled us to keep track of work done and invoices paid. We would highly recommend Cressbrook.
Although very busy Julian made time to investigate a water leak in our main family bathroom, one he himself didn't install. After two visits he would accept no monies for his time and effort saying "it's just a bit of sealant". Some years ago Julian built us a wet room, a somewhat complicated project involving support beams and removal of existing features. His work is of a very high standard and coupled with the fact that he is an amiable man. I would not hesitate to recommend Cressbrook to potential customers.
Cressbrook re-configured and modernised our bathroom and son's bedroom. Works were completed to a high standard using quality materials. Good communication throughout and to budget. Happy to recommend.
Julian co-ordinated the creation of an open plan kitchen from utility room, hallway and existing kitchen by removal of 3 internal walls and installation of RSJ. Julian and team were clean, tidy and friendly workers - we received great service from start to finish from the design through to completion and were quite satisfied with the price charged considering the amount of work undertaken, in fact we have booked Julian and the 'Cressbrook' team in for another building project next year!
Cressbrook recently completely fitted out our new utility room with cupboards, drawers, sink, work surface and custom made shelves to become a dispensary for my herbal practice. Julian initially spent time with me working out exactly what I wanted and discussed how to maximise the space available and what would be the best materials to use. I needed to store a lot of different herbs but also to have them easily accessible. Julian made a custom made set of shelves on top of storage drawers which has created a fantastic workspace for me to use that also looks really professional. I was really delighted with the completed project and also the professional way in which Cressbrook carried out the work. I appreciated having regular communication with Julian throughout so that I knew exactly what was going to happen and had a clear timescale. Julian's team are very considerate and helpful who were willing to work around other things going on in the house and take a pride in their work. Julian and his assistant did a great job of replacing our kidney shaped bath for a full walk in shower complete with pull down seat to assist my disabled husband. It has proved very helpful indeed. They were both courteous and thoughtful and left everything clean at a very good price.
I had all my windows replaced, one shower room renewed, one created from scratch and my kitchen completely modernised. The service I received was excellent. Julian's experience in when to do what was incredibly helpful and his experience in kitchen and bathroom design meant the best possible use of each space. Julian co-ordinated all the trades required to complete the work on the house. This meant they arrived in a timely manner and the jobs flowed smoothly. That was invaluable. If I hadn't had that service I can imagine I'd still be chasing plumbers, electricians and plasterers! Julian's team were clean and tidy workers. At the end of each day tools etc. were tidied away and the working area vacuumed. This really helped to keep the dust down. All the trades were knowledgeable and friendly. I was consulted at every stage of the refurbishment and always knew when to expect the next piece of work. Having, what amounted to all the key aspects of a house updated or created is quite a stressful experience but Julian and his team made it as smooth as possible. I would highly recommend Cressbrook for a professional, friendly and knowledgeable service.
I contacted Cressbrook to help provide me with a quote for an insurance claim. It was to cover repairs/replacements of damage to my property following a break-in. Julian promptly dealt with my request. He was very polite and professional and offered advice on products and repairs. Thank you. Would use again.
