This was the first time we have used Alan's services and it definitely will not be the last. His knowledge and experience is second to none! He has totally transformed our hallway stairs and landing Originally all the wood work was in a dark stain and the walls painted in a dark grey. Now the wood work is white and the walls are painted in a light heritage sage green. It looks absolutely amazing and so bright and fresh. We both would recommend Alan 100%
Found Alan on this site and I'm so glad I did. What a fabulous job he did decorating a bedroom for me. Arrived exactly when he said he would, worked very tidily and quoted a realistic price. 100% recommended if you want a professional job doing.

Alan has decorated a number of rooms for us over the last three years, most recently our hall, stairs and landing. He is a first-class decorator in every way: he is skilful, tidy and fast, and nothing fazes him - due to his 40+ years' experience. He is also very punctual and totally reliable, and a very nice chap too.
Alan has done all of our and our extended families and friends decorating for many years His standard of work and finish is still very much 100%. We left him a key to do the work whilst we were away He is totally 100% trust worthy and left the place very clean. I was looking for a trustworthy reliable decorator, so I checked on Trusted Trader and read Alan's reviews, I was impressed so called him. He agreed to call round and give me a quote, He arrived as agreed I asked what is the best paint to use, He gave me some very good advice regarding what is best for wiping things down because of my large dog and a cat. Alan called me a few days later we agreed the price and start date. I had to wait because he was very busy I am so glad I waited. Alan's finish is fantastic my kitchen/diner looks so bright and fresh. He as transformed the whole area, He is very punctual, meticulously clean. Plus a very fair price for all the work involved. Alan does all my neighbour's decorating so I asked him for a quote to paint our hall stairs and landing. I have gone bold and we now have 2 feature walls painted in Yellowcake. It is so bright we love it. After all spring is on the way and all the daffodils are out. Alan's finish is brilliant he gave us good advice on what to use especially with having 5 year old twins tearing about the place plus 2 dogs it needs to be wipeable and hard wearing. We recently relocated from the south and needed a decorator so we checked trusted trader with being new to the area and not knowing any trades. Alan came as promised and gave us some very good advice on types of paints to use. We are very much outdoor people wanted to bring the outdoors in. We decided to have 2 feature walls done in each bedroom. We choose Fern winter woods animal print in Ochre and botanical birds in green for the other. We brought matching bedding for both bedrooms with cream walls. We are totally blown away by the uplifting feelings the two rooms give us both. They make us smile especially with it being winter plus they give us a feeling of warmth. Alan is such a nice calming mild mannered fella to have working for you. His finish is outstanding and he is so clean and tidy. We would 100% recommend him without hesitation A massive thank you Alan for making us settle into our place making it feel much more like home. We look forward to seeing you in the summer.
We had our en-suite, kitchen and utility room painted by Alan. The work was done to a very high standard and done very efficiently, on time and at a very reasonable price. We would happily recommend Alan to anyone and hope to have more work done by him in 2024.
Alan came highly recommended via a work colleague, this is the 1st time we have used Alan's services. His work is mint and such detail to attention is second to none. I wanted my flat painted throughout but was reluctant because it would involve tradespeople I did not know entering my flat. In the past my husband and I did our own decorating so without him this was a leap in the dark. Alan was the first name on the list of Trusted Traders and he proved and excellent choice. I now enjoy bright white paint and sharp lines. In particular, Alan transformed my bay window where the sill was broken and the plaster board cracked. He was an ideal person to have in my flat. I liked the fact that he came alone, was self sufficient, worked efficiently concentrating on the task in hand. He covered up floors and furniture, tidying as he went. I appreciated that he manoeuvred all the heavy stuff and rehung the pictures that I could not manage alone. My chats with his wife before his visit were reassuring. I have no hesitation in recommending Alan Haddon.

Alan recently decorated our living room, stairs, landing and toilet. All was completed to an excellent finish, at a fair price, and we would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone requiring a good, reliable tradesman.
We found Alan Haddon through a personal recommendation. He was extremely reliable, both through the quoting process and for the work itself. He was very skilled and experienced, and very quick. He did both painting and wallpapering, and did a really nice job. For example, you have to look very closely to see where the joints are in the wallpaper. He took a lot of care and made small repairs in the plaster as he went along with the painting. He is very easy to get on with - a straightforward person; he works hard - just gets on with the job. His estimate for the duration of the job was good and he finished when he said he would. We are really pleased with him and the job he did.

This is our 1st time we used Alan's services. He has done a awesome job of painting our dining/kitchen with a feature wall in the dining area. It is a 1st class finish, it is so bright and welcoming we love it. He turned up daily at 8am. He is a very clean worker. He is totally trustworthy, we left him to do the job whilst we were out at work. His price was very fair and well worth our money. My husband and I asked Alan to paint our new extension and the newly created open plan part of our existing home. It was tricky because we had some rooms ready for painting before others and a number of trades people working at the same time. Alan was extremely flexible and managed to paint everywhere in a professional and efficient way for a fair price. We have used Alan once before and have recommended him to friends and family, who have all been highly satisfied with his work. We will certainly be asking Alan back in the future.
I am writing this today just to say thank you to Alan. Not only is he a first class decorator but a very kind and caring man. He has done our decorating for over 15 yrs and we would not use anyone else. This message is because during this pandemic he has helped us in many ways with us having to shield. He kindly fixed our fencing to keep our dog safe to roam in the garden. He fixed our back gate to open more easily. Plus his wife very kindly came at a very safe distance on our drive to help us set up online shopping. This has been a great comfort to us and to both our son and daughter who live very many miles away. We can not thank him enough. It just goes to show in this very frightening time and uncertainty. I had Alan to completely redecorate my bungalow, after he was recommended to me. This was the first time that I had used Alan, but it won't be the last. Alan has done decorating for us before, and we would not even consider anyone else to do our decorating this time around! As ever, he is punctual and all work is completed to an excellent standard. Undercoat and white satin-finish paint to all internal doors, skirting boards etc. He is very clean and tidy as he works, and SO neat. I had been concerned about paint getting on to upstairs carpets or the stairs, but there was no mess at all. Altogether perfect. If you are looking for a reliable, sensibly-priced quality decorator around the Shelton Lock/Chellaston/Swarkestone/Boulton Moor area, I highly recommend Alan Haddon! Work was completed March 9th -12th 2020.
I required all of my flat painted after a tenant had left. Alan did an excellent job, in the time I asked for, and at a very fair price.
we waited a long time for Alan but it was worth the wait. He has just stripped lined and painted 2 bedrooms and hall, stairs and landing along with all the doors and skirting and radiator cover. Nothing was too much trouble, I am a bit picky, sorry Alan. It is the first time we have used Alan but it will not be the last. Thanks again for doing a brilliant job.
Alan has just completed two decorating jobs at my house - a nursery and a hallway/landing. He has completed both to an excellent standard and we are really pleased with the results. He always arrived on time and is a very hard worker. We wouldn't hesitate to use Alan again for future work and would definitely recommend him to others.
I first used Alan over 4 years ago on a large and technical job. Since then we have worked with him again and he also worked for our family. Alan is very skilled and produces top quality work. He is reliable and gets on with the job without wasting time. His rates are fair and reasonable. We will always use him whenever we need a good painter.
